Cyber Security Insurance

When the breach happens, the response is covered.

A cyberattack or data breach brings notification costs, forensics, downtime, and liability — all at once. Cyber coverage funds the response and the recovery, so one incident doesn’t undo years of work.

What we cover

  • Data breach response and customer notification
  • Cyber extortion and ransomware
  • Business interruption from an attack
  • Third-party privacy liability
  • Forensics and system recovery costs

Why By America

  • Coverage matched to how your business stores and processes data.
  • Access to carrier breach-response teams — counsel, forensics, PR.
  • Plain-English guidance on what’s covered and what isn’t.

Coverage terms, limits, and exclusions vary by carrier and policy form. We walk you through exactly what is and isn’t covered before you bind — no fine-print surprises.

Good to know

Questions we hear most.

My business is small — am I really a target?

Small businesses are targeted precisely because defenses are lighter. Most claims we see come from email compromise and ransomware, not sophisticated attacks.

What does cyber coverage actually pay for?

Breach notification, forensics to establish what happened, legal counsel, credit monitoring for affected customers, ransomware response where permitted, and the income you lose while systems are down.

Doesn’t my general liability cover a breach?

Almost never. Most general liability forms specifically exclude electronic data and privacy claims, which is why cyber is written separately.

What will underwriters ask about?

Typically multi-factor authentication, backup practices, and employee training. Having those in place both lowers your premium and improves your odds of qualifying at all.
